What is bad writing? What does it look like?

Bad writing is writing without any clarity. I often times come across pieces either on the internet or in a magazine that I picked up at the local grocery store and find writing that is neither clear nor precise. As a reader, I quickly loose interest in stories that are either way too long, or that just do not make any sense. It seems lazy to me when writers choose not to extensivly proofread their work. 

If you want to capture your audiances attention, you need to put yourself into their shoes. News is supposed to be quick, accurate, and to the point. Do you really want to read an article that is 4 pages long and that is lacking in accurate detail? People who are interested in becoming writers must realize what good writing entails. It is not just something that anyone can sit down and start. It takes a lot of time, research and patience to be a writer.
